The strong don't survive...

The adaptable do.

Think of the weightlifter with great strength, if placed in a body of water they will drowned faster as their muscles use more oxygen and blood due to size, mass and strength.

There are of course many other facets to this such as body fat content for buoyancy, thermal retention, energy source etc.. however the concept is the same.

To build great strength...

in any area requires reallocation of other resources from other areas.

This leave us vulnerable in those areas that we ignored or depleted in order to build the strength. The body builder as example who becomes internal weaker by building the outer body stronger. The nerves are stretched as is the demand in all other systems, heart, organs, blood vessels, etc. to feed the massive muscle structure.

True strength...

Lay in Adaptability

We must retain and condition ourselves to maintain and foster balance under many conditions. This requires one to challenge their comfort zone constantly and consistently.

The normal body and mind is more adaptable as our genetic code warrants, which enable the body naturally intto survival need.

When you focus on strength you diminish flexibility, functionality and therefore become less adaptable to changing environment and stresses.

"Be like water my friend" - Bruce Lee

Let's face it life is unpredictable, even for those that prepare. We must keep learning as we go, by adapting to new situations as opposed to resisting. This method also serves to unbalance the opponent as resistance is expected, they will not expect or adapt easily by shaped compliance or flow with the imposed hardship.

We need to accept change as inevitable as a raging river, we must learn to float or swim with it as we gradually direct ourselves to the shore. Be quick to recognize and respond to internal and external pressure as well as the opportunities.
