Causes of disease and diagnosis

There are two types of risk factors that can cause COPD:

Internal factors: Deficiencies, genetic defects such as alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency (very rare, in these people appear early before age 40 and heavy up quickly).

Environmental factors: Tobacco smoke, waterpipe tobacco, exhaust fumes, industrial gases, indoor pollution, environmental pollution are the main causative factors.

Tobacco is responsible for more than 90% of COPD cases. About 20-30% of people who use more than 20 cigarettes a day will have early or late manifestations of COPD.

COPD due to occupational dust exposure occurs in about 10% of cases. Miners, workers in foundries, metallurgists, construction workers, weavers, farmers ... are often exposed to bronchial stimulants, who are at high risk. COPD.

Other factors such as urban pollution and indoor pollution (smoke, wood stove, coal stove) are the factors that are mentioned as the cause of the disease.
