GINGER SHOT RECEPIE

Many of you have probably seen the appearance of 'ginger shots' on the shelves of many supermarkets, their popularity has grown massively due to people waking up to the power of health foods. However, for something so simple to make, they are sold at extortionate prices. So if you want to improve your health, ditch the plastic and save yourself a lot of money... why not make your own!

Ingredients :

ā€¢ 2 apples (any will work, I'd recommend Braeburn apples if you want some added sweetness or Granny Smiths if you want a lower sugar content and a more bitter taste)
ā€¢ The juice of 2 lemons (or if you're using a juicer just stick the whole fruit in for the added benefits the zest provides)
ā€¢ 2 sticks of ginger (more or less can be added depending on the maker's pallet, the store bought shots have much less ginger in, however, I like to add more to up the health benefits)
ā€¢ 2tsp of apple cider vinegar (optional, but I enjoy adding it if I'm ill as it really helps to kick a stubborn cold)
(This is just a guide for ingredients, and you can alter the quantities depending on how much you want to make and the strength of the product, just be inventive and have fun getting healthy!)

Method :

You can easily make this with a juicer, just add the ingredients and follow the juicers instructions.
However, if you're not blessed with a decent juicer (like myself) then it's also easy to make in a blender or food processor, just add all the ingredients and blend until it's all the ingredients have been broken down. Then take a fresh muslin cloth or a straining bag and squeeze all the liquid out. After this, you're left with the dry remains and your magical ginger shots (though from this recipe it will probably be more like a jug full)! Then either compost the dry leftover or you can use them in cooking to make yummy things like cookies or granola.

I highly recommend everyone makes these whether you're feeling under the weather or just need a healthy boost! They're super easy to make and so good for you, ginger has SO MANY healing properties it's anti-inflammatory, helps stimulate digestive juices and is amazing for getting rid of colds and sore throats.
