Updates in my Indian city, precautions and hygiene in fear of Covid 19

As I write this blog post, the tally of infected persons in India stands at 159.

In my earlier post, the infection was mostly imported but now local transmission has started. The pace seems to be slow and most cities are taking extra measures to keep things under control.

  • Places like movie theaters and malls have been closed as per the Government instruction.
  • Schools and colleges have been closed for 2 - 3 weeks.
  • Most companies have offered their employees to work from home.
  • Grocery shops are open but all people who enter inside are checked at the entry for their body temperatures.

  • Several trains have been stopped as most Indian trains are crowded.
  • Most International flights have been banned from entry to India.
  • From March 22 onwards all flights from other countries will be banned to enter India.
  • People have been advised to call a helpline instead of going to a hospital, the helpline will arrange an ambulance to take the patient to the hospital safely (by isolating) without spreading the virus to others.
  • All events where people gather are banned/ controlled, instead only 50 people are allowed to group up for unavoidable events.
  • People returning from Europe are asked to isolate themselves at their home/hotel for 14-28 days, depending on the Doctor's advice.
  • At Airports all passengers are checked by a professional Doctor at the nearest hospital.
  • People who are infected will be stamped on their hands by an ink stating "home quarantine" that can't be erased for 3 months. This is done cause some people are running off from isolation and walking among the public.

Really hope things come under control soon and all get recovered.
