We tried sowing some Quinoa at the college garden back in June and having a small empty bed in my tunnel at home I decided to try the remaining seeds there. However owing to the plants strong resemblance to Lambs Quarters in its early stages and an overenthusiastic first year weeder the outdoor garden plants have disappeared and were a failure.
Lambs Quarters
The plants in my tunnel are a different story though. They are thriving.I have to confess if I had not known better I would have probably thought they were Lambs Quarter and whipped them out as well.
The buds are coming on strong and flowering should'nt be too far away.
Its great to see this plant thriving in a country that would not have ideal growing conditions to suit it.The wonderful growing powers of a polytunnel.Hopefully I should be able to harvest a usable amount of this beautiful cereal.
A quick peek at some of the veg which we are sending to show this week.
