Budae jjigae - Korean Army Stew

armystew.jpg

I took this photo in a South Korea last fall. The dish is called budae jjigae and it's also known as army stew because that's where it originated from. It was a quick and easy dish where soldiers could combine a bunch of ingredients found at U.S. army bases into on bubbling pot of spicy comfort food. Usually you'll find ramen noodles, rice cakes, spam, hotdogs, kimchi and cheese. In this photo, the noodles haven't quite cooked down yet, but once they are, everything is mixed together. Super yummy on a cold day. (This photo was taken with an Olympus E-PM1 camera.)

This is my photo for the #dailyfoodphotography iniative that @howtostartablog has started for people who love food and photography in the steemit community. You can read more about it here. Check it out and take part!
