I love ethnic foods, I totally love experimenting new cuisines and of course visiting ethnic restaurants.
One of my favorite cuisine is Indian. The amount of flavors, oh my gosh! Unfortunately, I can not possible cook Indian-style because I do not know the ingredients, names etc... although there are many Indian groceries around here, in New Jersey... but my friend can 😊
Today I want to share a nice dish she served the other day: Dudhi meal. Simple, yet so yummy.
As you can see, a couple of roti flatbread and some sauce. The roti is store bought, it is called methi-roti (it has fenugreek leaves). She warmed it up in a pan before bringing it at the table.
Break the roti in bite size pieces, dip it in the sauce and eat it. 1,2,3! Delicious bites!
Obviously, the secret is in the sauce. She used a special veggie called gourd. It is available in any supermarket here in USA. It’s like a squash. Peel it, dice it, cook it. Use onions, garlic, ginger, turmeric, chili, cumin seeds, tomatoes. Good old sauce recipe, right?
Next time I will make it. Let’s see how it will come up. I must be careful with those spices, that’s for sure!
