My mother likes to cook this dish, and since childhood I got used to it and loved it. Now I cook it at home when I want to remember the taste of childhood and when I do not want to strain too much, or when there is no time. My friends are always delighted and come to eat with me.
Sauerkraut from my mother's cellar has a great taste and rich aroma. Every fall my mom makes the cabbage, though I do not know the recipe she keeps secret but sometime I will know it.
ingredients:
- meat – 500 g (preferably pork ribs),
- potatoes – 700-800 grams,
- sauerkraut – 400 grams,
- onions – 1 piece,
- carrots – 1 piece,
- salt – to taste,
- sugar – 0.5-1 teaspoon,
- turmeric – 1 teaspoon,
- ground pepper – 0.5 teaspoon,
- garlic – 2 cloves,
- vegetable oil – for frying.
How to cook meat with sauerkraut and potatoes for dinner?
In the pan pour vegetable oil, heat it and spread the pieces of meat. As already mentioned, this dish is ideal pork ribs: just cut them into portions at once.
Meat salt, pepper, fry on both sides and spread in a separate bowl.
In the oil that remains in the pan, fry the diced onions: until light Golden.
Add the carrots grated on a coarse grater and simmer until soft.
If you have too acidic or salty cabbage, wash it with water – and only then spread it on the pan. Stir.
Then return the meat to the pan, spread it on sliced potatoes. Do not grind potatoes: the pieces should be large.
Salt, pepper, add all the spices and crushed garlic.
Pour in the water and simmer for 30 minutes: under the lid.
After every 7-8 minutes, mix and be sure to taste. If necessary, you can top up the water.
The finished dish can be sprinkled with chopped green onions. Delicious homemade dinner is served at the table!
