In today's culture, being busy is like being normal. We have so many things to do yet so little time. And so, friends and family usually don't gather around. Busy schedules get in our way.
Holidays are one reason to have our friends and family get together. It is on these special dates of our calendars that, we may hate to admit it but it is often true, we only get to gather around and have time for our friends and family. I've said this as this is the case in our family, my sister/s are too caught up in their schedules.
On this note, holidays and festivities always bring out the best in us. And one of the best things of us is the food we prepare for these special events. I would like to share some of our food during the holidays.
Christmas 2017 - Noche Buena
Overview of our Table
Christmas Cake
Spaghetti (personal favorite)
Lutong-bahay (homemade) ulam
These are my parents' specialty - Humba
We also prepared bacon, barbecue, fried chicken, and chorizo. As Filipinos, rice is always present in our meals. Also, there are fruits and some soft drinks and grape juice/wine. Finally, for Noche Buena, a Filipino delicacy - Cassava cake (photo below).
New Year 2018 - Media Noche
Overview of our Table
Star of the Table for the Season - Ham
Another set of lutong-bahay - Pork Specials
C A K E S
Macaroni Salad
And then there's rice (of course), some fruits, chocolates, among others. :)
It has been the tradition of our family to prepare food and eat together, as a symbol of celebrating the holidays. And it's the most wonderful time of the year, thus, we should spend it with the people we love and who love us back.
Fun times! It is always exciting to have holidays. For those working, it means double pay. For the students, another time off with school. But always remember to take a pause and make time to celebrate. Celebrating the holidays with great food is always worth it. Food brings people together.
