Malaysian Kuih - Kuih Kosui | 砵仔糕

Malaysians love their sweet kuih. Childhood cannot be complete if one hasn't made a favourite from the assortment of kuihs our multi-cultural society offer. It's not a surprise that our love affair continues into adulthood and one of our all-time favourites is the 砵仔糕 or Kuih Kosui. Traditionally made with Coconut sugar (hence the dark brown colour), it is soft and chewy. An absolute must for tea time snacks and sunny day outings. There are many variations to the presentation of this kuih but as the Cantonese Chinese name 砵仔糕 suggest, it is most often spotted in a shape of a small rounded cup.

Here we made some other flavours, pumpkin, strawberry, pandan and the classic coconut sugar. Don't get me wrong, that dark brown gleaming gem of a pudding will always never fail to entice our appetites but doesn't some colours just brighten the lot so much more. Add on top some freshly grated coconut and there you go, simply happiness.
