How to make it:

Wash the red lentils with water and strain them until the water runs clean.

Put the lentils in a pot and add 3 cups of water, add more when you want the soup to be more liquidy.

Bring to a boil and add some salt and turmeric to the water.

Let the lentils boil for 30 min or longer until soft.

When the lentils are soft take a small pan, add oil and fry the garlic and onion until they are soft and translucent.

Add the coped tomato, the coriander powder, and the red chili powder. (I added some cumin powder as well but you can totally skip it)

Cook the mixture until the tomatoes become soft and mushy and the spices start to smell.

Add the oil-spice tomato mixture to the lentils.

Stir it and add additional salt, black pepper and spices to taste.

And there you have it, an easy, cheap and delicious soup.
