A peaceful and a relaxing day for all Steemians. I remember the story of my cookery students after eating a lot in my lunch today.
While busy in prepping for a poultry dish, I asked them the preparation in their home's dining table, particularly as to what dish they love to cook. For only few mentioned their favorite dishes but most said they only have dried fish, sardines or noodles in most dining, and only during pay days they can have a delicious meal.
They are my Grade 10 - Beryl cookery students. I enjoyed being with them especially in their cooking performance. They are too excited to actually cook the given recipe. The only problem they have is the source where to buy ingredients since only few can afford. So as an initiative, I allow them to reduce 50 percent of the original recipe and have a plating for only one person instead of a platter.
We are now on the 4th quarter for meat preparation but we are still on the lecture process.
Allow me to show here some of their outputs with the last 3 quarters for starch and soup dishes, fish and shellfish, vegetable and poultry cookery.
I asked them if they also cook the same recipe at home, and they said, " No ma'am" for the reason that there's no budget to buy the ingredients.
I motivated them to be still inspired in using their cooking skills in the future. By all means I advised them to do good in school and to have higher grades so that they may qualify to some scholarship programs. I ended saying that who knows someday you can have the best career and you can already afford for a buffet table set- up even in every meal.
Be entusiastic, be inspired.
