Samgyeopsal Adventures

Korean restaurants are popping all over Manila as Filipinos are getting hooked in anything Korean. As someone who lives in the heart of Maginhawa St, I took the liberty to go and discover some of the Korean Restaurants that wouldn't go and hurt your wallet. Below is the list from my least favorite korean place down to my number 1.

  1. O Ga Ne

We held our first eat out as a team at a Korean Restaurant in Tomas Morato. The place is not something that will caught your attention unless you're really looking for it. I was around the area numerous times but didn't know this existed.

It's slightly dim inside the restaurant. The lights are coming from tiny lamp-like thing which is placed strategically around the place. Their bar of some sort is also lit so it added enough brightness for you to see what you're cooking. Unlike other Korean Restaurant that has builtin barbecue grill, this one has a mini cooker that the waiter prepares whenever a customer occupies a table.

Their place is an okay place, I'd say. Nothing really outstanding. The pork that comes with the unlimited samgyeopsal we ordered are good quality. The vegetables too.

Unlimited Pork Samgyeopsal is priced at 499php with 1 refill of the side dish. Is it worth it? I'm frugal and I feel like for that price I should be getting unlimited refill of side dish. Will I come back? Depends if they change it to unlimited side dish.

  2. Hwa Roro

For only 399php, you get tons of options. You don't have to wait for your barbecue to cook, because they already have cooked food you can eat while waiting. Is this worth it? Definitely!

PS. Let me throw in this picture because my boyfriend forced me to take photos with him while wearing Korean Traditional Dress -__-

  3. Mokja!

Last but definitely not the least, Mokja! My boyfriend and I discovered this by accident. We were supposed to go to Rainbows Cafe which is near Mokja because I was looking for a place with wifi to download something online. Apparently Rainbows Cafe doesn't have wifi so we decided to go here instead.

The place is small with only about 6 tables or so. Each tables has its own cooker waiting for you. Side dish is unlimited refill and for only an additional of 50php, you get unlimited drinks!

I apologize, we might've forgotten to take a photo 😁

Will I come back? Definitely. For only 299, you get unlimited samgyeopsal and side dish. They have variety of vegetables to choose which are all fresh, BTW.

How about you? What's your favorite Korean Restaurant?
