Pinoy Food #1: Turones de Langka

Turon is a popular Philippine snack comprised of banana (Cardaba Banana) wrapped in spring roll wrapper then fried. Some dust it with brown sugar while some add sesame seeds as toppings.

I've adapted one of the many versions of this snack, where slices of jackfruit are added. To make it extra special, I stew the jackfruit in sugar syrup to make it into some sort of a jam we call Minatamis na Langka (more on this on another blog).

Cardaba Bananas (cut into thin slices)

Brown Sugar (dusted on the banana)

(Sweetened Jackfruit)

What You Do

Lay wrapper on a flat working area (I use a big plate for mine). Arrange one of the sugar-dusted bananas in the middle of the wrapper. Place a few strips of the sweetend jackfruit on top of the banana.

Fold the sides.

Roll into a log.

Seal with water.

Fry in 1 inch deep of oil in medium heat until golden brown.
