Chole Tikki (Potato-Greenpeas Cutlets with Chickpea Curry) is a very famous Indian street food. It is popular in North India but available across India.
Tikki( Cutlets) is made of potatoes and added other vegetables, here I used green peas with potatoes. Tikkis can be enjoyed with different types of sweet and sour sauce but if served with spicy chole (Chickpeas curry) it becomes Chole Tikki.
Ingredients
- Potatoes 250 gms
- Green peas 1/2 cup
- Green chili 3 nos chopped
- Ginger grated 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder 1 tsp
- Corn flour 1 tsp
- Salte to taste
- Breadcrumbs (It is optional as it is used to make tikki crispy) 1/2 cup
- Vegetable oil for shallow frying.
Procedure
- Boil potatoes and mash them. Blanch green peas to make it soft. If using frozen green peas no need to blanch.
- In a mixer take green peas, chopped green chili, and ginger. Make a coarse paste.
- In a mashed potatoes mix, green peas paste and other spices. Mix well to make a uniform dough.
- Make round shaped or any shape cutlet you like. Coat with breadcrumbs.
- In a pan heat oil and shallow fry the cutlets from both sides until it become crispy.
