The Great British Fry up.

The Fry Up is an established part of British food. Growing up this was our Saturday dinner, unless Christmas fell on a Saturday you knew what you would be eating. These days we have it far less often and cooking in oil has replaced cooking with lard.

Now this one below is missing one of the essential parts of a good fry up. When getting the stuff for cooking it I somehow missed out on the sausage. My bad, the wife is disgusted in me and is muttering about not being able to get the staff. (My photo skills are also lacking today as well.)

So what you need:
Sausages. (plain pork ones or any other version you fancy, just remember to buy them.)
Eggs.
Bacon. (Back bacon or streeky bacon, smoked or unsmoked.)
Button mushrooms. (sliced in half.)
All these are shallow fried so you need at least 2 frying pans on the go. I fry the sausages in one pan and once they are cooked fry the mushrooms in it while in the other pan I cook the bacon first and then the eggs.

Also needed:
1 tin of chopped tomatoes.
1 tin of baked bean or spaggetti (I did spaggetti today.) or both depending on how you feel.
(These are just chucked in a bowl and warmed up in the microwave because it's easier.)

Extra things you can have are:
Black Pudding or blood pudding. (Same thing, different names.)
Fried Bread. (Take a slice of bread, cut it in half and shallow fry it until it browns. Do this before the rest and leave on a plate to get crunchy as it cools.)
Hash Browns. (This is a recent addition and not really part of a traditional British Fry Up.)
Tomato ketchup or Brown sauce.

This food isn't classed as healthy but it's tasty. You can make it a bit more healthy by grilling the sausage and bacon and having the eggs poached or scrambled but in moderation it's not going to hurt to fry it all.

(The wife is still grumbling about the forgotten sausage, only been 30 minutes she's been going on.)

There you go then, the fry up, as British as Fish and Chips.
