Do not Throw your Fishing Plastics in the Water

We have caught a trout last week and thought it had a nice fish in the belly. Upon cleaning the fish, we have found a soft plastic worm in the belly.

For those who don't know, fish cannot digest plastic. We fishermen use ton of soft plastic that can easily rip and end up in the water ways and fish would eat it and it will stay in their bellies. This will prevent them from feeling hungry and will eat less. Imagine if the belly had more plastics. They would eventually starve because they don't have enough room to fit any more food!

There's been documentation of autopsies on dead fish and their bellies are full of plastic, whether it is trash or fishing plastic.

Although I am not sure if the plastic in this fish belly was because an angler threw a used worn plastic into the water or it was yanked off by a fish and then devoured by this lake trout. Regardless, I urge everyone to be responsible anglers and just bring home your plastics and dispose of them properly!
