…He opened a cupboard in the room to find her jewelries, at that moment a book fell out and its pages opened. On the pages were scribbled these words "I must atone for my sins, I killed my wife " this was written in all pages of this book that contained many leaves. This writing must be something their father did when he was drunk.
After reading this, Jade was weakened all over that he could barely stand. He had to go sit on the bed and think of what possible excuse his father could have for murdering his own wife.
While still in thoughts, he heard the sitting room door open. His father had returned from wherever he went every night smelling and drunk as usual. "What's for dinner Jade" he yelled, as though he had provided any resource for dinner preparation. Jade was still upstairs in his parents room, he made up his mind to confront his father and demand answers for his action. To prevent meeting the same fate as his mother, he decided to arm himself. He carried a crowbar which he could use in defending himself or fighting back if need be for it.
Jade waited at the entrance of his parents room for his father to come upstairs. He was boiling with rage and anxious to know what stupid explanation his father would give for his actions. When his father came up and saw Jade, he yelled "you this stupid Child, haven't I been calling you since" as he was saying this, he slapped jade on the cheek. This was not surprising as it was his father's normal character. His father pushed him aside to enter into his room. Before he opened the door, Jade asked " Dad, What happened that resulted in mothers death?" His annoyed father simply asked him what kind of stupid question was he asking. Jade replied "I know what you did to her and I want answers".
Jade's father was perplexed, what could Jade be talking about he thought to himself. Still at the door, He then realised the door knob was broken.This could only mean one thing. That Jade had been snooping around and is now onto him. He stood still for a moment, thinking of his next plan of action. I guess the pressure was just to much to bear that he dashed towards Jade yelling "you this bastard, you'll join your mother in hell today." Lucky for Jade, he had anticipated something like this. One swoop of the crowbar on his father's head rendered him unconscious with someone injuries.
He woke up strapped to a Chair, it was interrogation time. Jade was determined to know what happened to his mother. After he had concluded his inquiry, he found out that the reason for his father's action was because he discovered that his wife had been having an affair with his high school friend and that the children weren't his. So out of anger,betrayal, frustration and hatred he decided to end her life and cover up his actions with a fake fire accident. But he regretted his actions because he still loved her.
Jade wanting to punish his so called father and not also wanting to remember the life he lived in that house, he decided to burn it down with his father inside. Though this was all made to look like a normal fire accident. He felt that this was punishment his father deserved for what he did to his mother.
