5 People from the same family died early Sunday morning when their home teleporting machine malfunctioned, NYPD said.

The teleporter, which carried two parents and their 3 children aged between 3 and 9, malfunctioned at the de-conversation stage, where it turns electrical signals back into constructive matter.

In an interview, the spokesperson for X-porter, the leading domestic teleporting machine manufacturer, attributed the failure to improper calibration of the converter.

He, however, confirmed that the accident could not be blamed on the operator but that it was all due to a small yet fatal error in the machine's software. The company has since issued a recall on all its home teleporters.

Although this is the first fatal accident in the over three years that the company has been in operation, calls for the ban of the domestic use of the technology have gotten stronger following the accident.

Last year, two people got their limbs swapped when the teleporter they were using to travel from China to Chile malfunctioned, requiring 6 hours of surgery.
