I am now on the 3rd Law from the book "The Code of the Extraordinary Mind: 10 Unconventional Laws" by Vishen Lakhian. This law marks the beginning of starting to work towards making a mental difference. The last two laws described how to see what's going on around you and open your eyes to the culturescape and the brules (BS rules). Now it's time to work.
Within this chapter, Vishen discusses that consciousness engineering is "an operating system for the human mind." The two things that run that operating system are: Your Models of Reality and Your Systems for Living. I will break down each one.
Your Models of Reality:
These are your beliefs. Vishen says "But while your beliefs make you, your beliefs are NOT you." This stuck out to me because it's so true. Changing your beliefs may seems scary for some people, but it's a way of life. You don't have to stick with the whole belief system your whole life. Upgrading your beliefs are okay. When you do this a whole new world opens up to you.
Your Systems for Living:
These are your habits, how you put your models of reality into practice. These are the things you do on a daily basis that make you who you are. Vishen uses a smart phone analogy. He says "I think of them (habits) like apps you can easily download and update, intended for specific purposes or to solve specific problems." This is so neat because you don't keep every app you download, right? You can delete it or move it to a folder on your phone you don't see as often. You get to choose!
Law 3 states in the book Extraordinary minds understand that their growth depends on two things: their models of reality and their systems for living. They carefully curate the most empowering models and systems and frequently update themselves.
