This beautiful reserve is located at 15 minutes from Guasca, is one of the main sources of waters of the municipality, it has two camping grounds, some dense trails covered with native shrubs and to complete the journey of el zoque you have to cross the creek many times, till you get to the broken dam that was used for a pine farm.

Keep in mind, this is not like any other reserve; it’s difficulty depends a lot on the weather because if the flow of the river is too high, completing this park will be a challenge.

Nevertheless, this could become your favorite park if you are looking for challenges and practice steep trekking, it’s pristine look will make you love the entire park.

Guessing you are going from Bogota, you can go to Calle 72 with freeway, just a bit more to the east there are some buses parked that go to la Calera, Sueva, Guasca, Guavio, Junin, and from there, if you take the one that goes beyond Guasca, after passing this town, in around 15 minutes you’ll get to the reserve, it has a cost of 8,000 and a bit more than an hour and a half, also, keep in mind that you have to go early, because after 8am, the next bus departs at 9am or more, so the earlier the better.

It is VERY important that you take some spare clothing and a pair of waterproof boots, and if by chance you have trekking poles, take them along, they’ll be very handy, also, don’t forget to give a like to his fanpage

About the Zoque Ecological Reserve

It originated at the 80’s to make a water reservoir for a pine reserve, but unfortunately, what seems to be a bridge, is actually a dam that collapsed and caused an avalanche that destroyed everything in it’s path, years later, the property was bought by the municipality to protect the water and fauna because it is the principal principal source of liquid of the area.
