Dear Steemit Friends,
If you have been following the conservation efforts for the northern White Rhino, You know that he is called Sudan. His current home is Ol Pejeta Conservancy and he is guarded 24/7. On sight, he looks lke any other Rhino but once you learn That he is the only male Northern White, you even fear to go near him. He has a great relationship with the guard and caregivers.
Sudan looks unbothered as he quietly and slowly grazes near us. My first instinct is to move away or run but we are told not to be scared. I finally muster the courage to go near him and touch him. I feel so sad knowing that the Northern White Rhinos are about to be extinct. They are trying to store his sperm and use the Southern White as a surrogate. There are 2 more Northern white females Fatu and Najin (still in Kenya) but they have not been successful in conceiving since Sudan is very old.
We also saw some other animals. We saw Baraka, a blind black rhino who lost his eye when fighting with another rhino. It was a proper game drive.
