Our hero exits the armory, and almost immediately he hears a barge approaching just around the corner. He feels unprepared, but there's no time for planning. It's fight or flight time. He could easily get away if he so chooses, but this is also an opportunity to test himself in battle against creatures which have so far had him at a disadvantage.
