We continue our feeding efforts despite the lockdown

The past few weeks were particularly difficult because of the blockades that were preventing us from even traveling to many of the locations where the homeless animals depend on us for food. To make matters worse, many of the directives by the government have been extended for another month which means that many markets and restaurants who would normally put out some scraps for the hungry "soi dogs and cats" are not in operation and therefore the animals are simply going hungry.

There is some good news though, with our volunteers on both sides of the roadblocks we are able to get to most of our designated feeding spots and because of our recent rather huge donation we have plenty of food, for now.

The good news is that the transport ban is slowly being lifted so we will at least be able to travel freely especially once we can explain to the police what it is that we are doing - we aren't exactly out there socializing with other people, we are simply feeding homeless dogs and most of the officers are sympathetic to this.

Just a quick note: Some people seem to think that we focus entirely on dogs but that is not the case. Dogs are a lot easier to lure in with food than cats are sure, and cats are also a great deal more proficient at hunting for themselves and eating various critters in the wild. Therefore, we inadvertently DO end up feeding significantly more dogs than cats but it isn't because we are prejudiced against cats or anything. It is also a lot more difficult to earn the trust of a cat, even if you do have food. Another rather funny aspect of cats is that they tend to be a lot more fussy about what they will eat, even if they are hungry. We have seen some cats turn their noses up at cat food, even though they were clearly hungry. There's only so much we can do and we are not going to be buying cans of tuna at this point :)

So despite the lockdown we are doing the best that we can to keep our efforts towards feeding and caring for the homeless animal population of Krabi and Ao Nang going. Special thanks to everyone out there that has contributed to our efforts. We absolutely could not do it without you.
