The waters are still mostly in ice, that's perhaps the reason they look so calm. One shouldn't try walking on it though, because it may already be brittle from place to place.
Leo had a painkiller before going to bed, so I think he's going to sleep fine, and as the doctors said, he will likely recover fast.
