Epic Cash

Epic Cash is a unique implementation of Mimblewimble forked from Grin. It is unique for several reasons and this writeup will cover a few. For a deeper dive, please go to https://epic.tech or epicentral.io

The first unique component of Epic Cash is the PoW model. It is configured brilliantly to assure limitations on centralized mining such as what happens with ASIC miners. In fact, mining EPIC is possible on CPU, GPU, and ASIC but the ingenious mechanism sets how much each mining component is allowed to harvest. For example, the community currently sets allocation for 60% CPU, 38% GPU, and 2% ASIC. This can be changed at anytime as determined by the community via governance DAO token (ECR) voting but is typically addressed during transitions to the next mining era. PoW Mining eras are explained deeper in the whitepaper but are basically around a year.

Another unique factor is the ecosystem being built. Epic Cash is not merely a monolithic one-coin payment system. In addition to EPIC which is our highly scalable, decentralized, and private version of bitcoin, there is an entire ecosystem of tokenomics being developed and actively released as we speak. But first, I mentioned a scalable and private version of bitcoin, so let's unpack that real quick.

EPIC, with its 1.8GB blockchain size fits easily on a mobile wallet. Bitcoin's blockchain is over 350GB. EPIC will be mineable on cell phones but with bitcoin, specialized equipment is required. So, by using Mimblewimble, EPIC achieves far greater scalability and decentralization because of how Mimblewimble strips away unnecessary transaction data and instead uses creative math to verify blockchain integrity (no coins created out of thin air). But it is privacy that is at the forefront of why Mimblewimble is so important.

Simply put, Mimblewimble takes the same proven elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) used to secure bitcoin transactions and applies this to transaction amounts so that the transaction amounts are now private and there are no addresses required. So then, that's enough on EPIC for now. Let's consider the ecosystem.

So far, I've mentioned ECR. There's no formal name but ECR has been referred to as Every Citizen's Reserve. Instead of a federal reserve, we have a governance token which every holder can use to participate in Democratic proposals. EUSD is a token that will work as a unit of account (1 EUSD = $1 USD worth of EPIC) to EPICs store of value and ECRs medium of exchange. EUSD will be important for ecommerce development of the Epic Cash ecosystem.

There are other tokens coming as well. But to keep this short, I'll just finish with this:

Epic Cash is the most comprehensive approach to a native coin ecosystem I've ever seen. Please see the image at the end of this article for an illustration.
