He stopped in the road, no longer able to ride even one kilometer further. His shadow, cast by the streetlight, made Marco larger than life.

The helium added a certain levity to his predicament. Should he stay or should he go?

If Marco remained, the weight of his body would relentlessly push him into the rut, overtaking him with sentimentality. That gave this grave option some appeal. After all this was always his home, and he had lived his life well.

In the end, it was the balloons. "Live life lightly," Marco proclaimed, as he caught the wind.
