Color Challenge x Flashback Friday: Kayak Surfing in Hawaii

In 2016, I took one of the most memorable trips of my life.

A week in Hawaii, exploring both Oahu and Kauai with one of my best friends. With nothing but cameras in hand, we explored the lava rock covered terrain with much excitement.

On the last day of the trip, we decided to take a kayak out to "The Mokes" or the Mokulula Islands off the coast of Lanikai.

After a a few miles of paddling, we arrived on the shores of the Mokes. A few of the locals wanted to take us kayak surfing, but we declined because the waves were HUGE that day. Both of us are land lovers, so we passed on the opportunity to watch from the island's shore.

What started as a gut feeling, ended up as a close call as you see below. The kayak flipped after a few runs of trying to catch a wave, a bit frightening but made for some awesome photographs!

Enjoy.
