Greens are one of our favorite and most abundant crops, so it feels totally fitting to celebrate them here for the Steemit Color Challenge for Thursday green!
We plant our greens in raised beds made from repurposed monster truck tires, and in the cold fall and winter months we turn it into an easy green house by pulling clear tarps over the beds (we double up the tarps with something dark as well when it gets really cold).
Between our gardens and our wildcrafted food forest, we always have some varieties of leafy greens in season year round! We have kale, spinach, collards, mustard greens, radish and beet greens, lamb's quarter, purslane, many kinds of lettuces, dandelions, bok choy, oxalis, broccoli rabe, arugula, Swiss chard, sweet potato greens, and a variety of herbs as well!
We pick a ginormous basket of greens every day to make super power green juice out of a combination of our plants!
