Cape Colville, Coromandel, New Zealand: An amazing and scary road

We had a fantastic day for our drive to the Cape. After leaving Coromandel Town, the road soon becomes a single lane gravel road. When we went the pot holes had all been filled and the creek crossings were easy, though I imagine at times the road can be rough going.

The scenery is magnificent, with fantastic pohutukawa trees lining the seashore of the Firth of Thames.

Closer to the cape, there are parts of the road where you don’t want to meet another vehicle, let alone a big one. At points there are huge drop offs. Luckily there isn’t much traffic, and what views.
