Dear Friends, today with my memories I am back to the middle of June when I was visiting Straßburg. Strasbourg city in the northeast of France, is the official seat of the European Parliament and is situated directly on the border with Germany. I didn't have much time so I focused on the old town area. I was walking through what is a defacto a small island surrounded by the Faux Remparts canal.
Suddenly I came across the huge cathedral 'Straßburger Münster'. It is so magnificent, it looks as if it was growing straight to heaven, as usual in the Gothic times it was the target. It rises so high that the caps fall from the heads of visitors as they look up at the spire 142m high. This building made a stunning and lasting impression on me, especially when I looked back and thought about people in Gothic times, who didn't have the machines, the technology that we now have. In addition to being one of the tallest churches in the world it also has intricate and beautiful sculptures, statues and stained glass windows.
I have set myself the task of photographing the cathedral in Strasbourg...
...I failed 😁 it was impossible to make it in one pice.

Liebe Steemit-Freunde, heute bin ich mit meinen Erinnerungen zurück bis zum Juni, als ich Straßburg besucht habe.
Straßburg, im Nordosten von Frankreich, ist offizieller Sitz des Europäischen Parlaments und liegt direkt an der Grenze zu Deutschland. Und tatsächlich spürt man deutsche und französische Einflüsse auch in kultureller und architektonischer Hinsicht. Ich hatte nur eine kurze Zeit, deswegen konzentrierte ich mich auf die Innenstadt. Ich ging durch diese romantische Altstadt, die wie eine kleine Insel ist, umgeben vom Kanal “Faux Remparts”.
Und dann erreichte ich den unglaublich riesenhaften Dom des Straßburger Münster. Es ist so prächtig, es sieht so aus, als würde es direkt in den Himmel wachsen. Genau so, wie es in der Zeit der Gotik üblich war. Es ragt so hoch himmelwärts, dass beim bewundernden Aufschauen die Mützen von den Köpfen fallen. Dieser monumentale Bau hat auf mich einen atemberaubenden Eindruck gemacht. Besonders deswegen, wenn ich in der Zeit zurückblicke und an Menschen in der Gotik denke, die nicht über die Maschinen verfügten, die Technologien, die wir heute haben. Eigentlich endet das alles in der Höhe jedoch nicht, denn der Dom ist dort mit einer Vielzahl von schönen, steinfreien Ornamenten bedeckt.
Ich habe mir die Aufgabe gestellt, den Dom in Straßburg zu fotografieren…
…ich bin gescheitert 😁
