First Day Riding Alone (Snowboarding Day 2)

Filled with excitement and determination I headed up the mountain for my second day snowboarding.

This time was special, I was alone. No mommy to hold my hand, no dad to push me down. No one but me, the mountain and the crowds.

At first I felt a bit lost, like the new kid in school, unsure if I was sitting in the right classroom, not really knowing the language, and afraid of eating shit down the slopes.

My secret weapon: Music. Rap was my genre of choice, it inspires confidence in my soul.

The first few runs were nothing but smooth. Front plops, backward spins, gratitude for my helmet.

It wasn’t until halfway through the day that the first breakthrough came though: Toe turns.

I knew about them of course, but my body hadn’t yet caught with my brain.

All it took was practicing a super basic exercise I had seen on the internet. Thirty seconds did the trick.

Another successful day on the mountain. =D
