Eddie Hughes, British Parliament Member (MP), has proposed that Bitcoin payments for taxes and local utilities should be provided as a settlement option.
Hughes, who is a "self-described crypto fan with amateur knowledge" explained that the blockchain and cryptocurrency had garnered the attention of many people and he believed that MPs "have an obligation to understand it."
After meeting the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Hughes was more inspired and he asked his colleagues, "What stops us [from] being able to pay council tax and other bills with Bitcoin? According to a Reuters report, the recent sharp correction in the cryptocurrency market has lowered the urgency of the UK Financial Behavior Authority to create new crypto regulations and officials have indicated that they will take their time in developing a nuanced regulatory framework that recognizes the unique nature of crypto assets.
