Berlin, urban city with lots of nature

If we think of Berlin, than most people think about the cold war, the wall and remarkable sights. But Berlin is much more than history and sightseeing. Berlin is also nature, farming and natural grown forest. In Berlin there are dense forests, many lakes and a lot of waterways. Berlin Frohnau, for example, a Berlin district with many trees and a dense forest. You can really enter another world.  Relaxing and quite.  There also are some farms in the City, even a farm with subway connection. Founded in 1910, Berlin-Frohnau was created whole as a planned community, corresponding to the early twentieth century idea of a Garden City. When you visit Berlin, you can visit nature as well.

In the north-west of the city is Berlin's northern forest area, the Tegeler Forst. Tegel is known to most tourists only as the airport TXL. But there is more. There is a big lake, a river and many trees.  Inside the forest there are many animals, wild pigs and even red deer. Hunting is prohibited, but if you are very quiet, you might meet a dag.

Berlin has even a swamp area, here you can walk on wood planks and enjoy the nature. You will find so much in nature in hardly any other city on the continent. Living in the countryside and working in the city, is the motto of many Berliners.

Also in autumn the shore of Tegelort is very relaxing. You can take a walk or cycle along the water. Everything is possible. This is a different Berlin, a green Berlin. Oases not far from the big city. This increases the quality of life.
