Scientists (chemists especially) love their beer, if for no other reason than it’s a tasty, inebriating beverage with a lot of history and a lot of surprisingly high-level academia focused on it. Beer has helped advance our understanding of everything from fluid dynamics to microbiology, but a group of researchers who took a trip to a microbrewery in Seattle get to claim one the latest discovery based on the fermented, malty beverage — a microbe never before documented by science.
