Kalalau Trail, Kauai
22 mile roundtrip hike to Kalalau Beach- an unspoiled, desolate beach that can only be accessed via the trail.
The trail was tiring. We each carried around 40lbs of gear for the five day adventure. We ended up hiking a total of~30 miles when we totaled all of the side trails we did. The countless valleys and mountains put a real beating on our legs. It was difficult, but nonetheless rewarding. It was not hard to recognize that Jurassic Park was filmed here.
Here are some pictures from the trip: I hope to make some posts about some more specific aspects of the trip, but I wanted to put together something fast for BeachWednesday!! If you ever have the chance to visit the NaPali Coast on Kauai, it is incredible.
This is the most dangerous part of the trail. The "crawlers ledge" portion makes some people even turn around!
These last two pictures are of the beach that the trail led to. Unreal.
This is an interesting photo of where a freshwater river meets the ocean. It was so refreshing being able to filter and drink directly from the rivers along the trail.
