I visited my parents' old house today and there, in the backyard, stood a towering duhat tree absolutely laden with fruit. I had no idea it was there, but apparently a little sprout decided to make itself at home years ago. Now, it's a giant and clearly very happy resident.
I couldn't resist! Duhat season is in full swing here in the Philippines (March to June), and these fruits looked perfectly ripe. So, with a little light climbing (okay, maybe more than a little – thanks, roof!), I managed to snag a big handful of these delicious purple gems. There's something so satisfying about harvesting fruit straight from the tree!
Speaking of duhat, did you know these little guys are more than just tasty? Turns out, they're packed with antioxidants and might even help regulate blood sugar! They're also a good source of vitamin C, which is great for your immune system and skin. Pretty cool, right?
Now, time to enjoy the fruits (pun intended) of this unexpected discovery! Fresh duhat with a sprinkle of rock salt is my go-to, but maybe I'll try making some jam or juice this year. Any recipe recommendations, fellow duhat lovers?
Much love,
Ally
