Sancai - Three colours Chinese pottery from Tang Dynasty [Figurine of civil and military official] - 英姿风发文武俑

The Tang tri-colored glazed pottery is a kind of polychrome glazed pottery at low temperature popular in Luoyang and Xi'an during the Tang Dynasty. It was firstly discovered in the Tang tombs in Mangshan Mountain, Luoyang, in the early 20th century, and was named for the main glazing colors, yellow, green and white. It is a new craft developed from the monochrome glazed pottery at low temperature during the Han Dynasty and Caowei Period, and has its own originality.

Today I would share with you the civil and military official Sancai from Tang Dynasty.

The human figurines of the Tang tri-colored glazed pottery are characterized by precise proportion, lively image, wide themes and various styles.
