Classicism is an art epoch that had begun in the 18th century in France as a counter-movement to the Baroque and the term itself is derived from classic and refers to the influences of antiquity such as from ancient Greece or Rome. From this time on, classicism spread more and more in Europe and even reached other continents and pretty much everywhere in the world you can find numerous buildings that have been created according to this style and a typical characteristic of the architectural works is the unique elegance which comes into its own through the simplicity and powerful charisma and often museums, libraries or other important historical buildings are built according to this style. The popularity of this style is characterised, among other things, by the fact that many buildings have been rebuilt to correspond to classicism and a typical example for this era are temple complexes in which more and more columns were used, which were adopted according to the example of antiquity. Often one sees that certain things that were connected with the ancient culture are brought to the foreground and this often includes certain scenes from mythology which are presented in the form of reliefs and are integrated into the buildings and in general, it can be said that the ideology should correspond to antiquity and less value has been placed on abstract forms. Typical features for classicism are the use of bright colors and you can recognise numerous different geometric shapes as well as clear lines in general and it can be said that one was rather more economical with ornaments and more value was placed on the essentials and the size as well as symmetry had an important meaning.
