Hello my Steemian friends. Today, I want to share with you guys our experience when we went to Monasterio De Tarlac today, October 22.
This is also a part of my entry for @deveerei contest titled It's Amazing in The Philippines.
But before that, I want to share a brief history about this monastery that my wife also shared with me when we were driving to this destination.
It is located in San Jose, Tarlac and this monastery is on the top of a mountain named Mount Resurrection. It is free for everyone and is also part of Tarlac Ecotourism Park, it's a monastery surrounded by a tourism park.
I asked my wife why it's a famous destination and I was really surprised when she said that a relic of the True Cross is here. It means that there's a piece of the cross upon which Jesus Christ was crucified which made me feel excited as I'm about to see and maybe picture the said remnant.
The travel was long, more than 12 kilometers starting in San Jose and that doesn't include your journey before you got to the municipality and the roads are so steep and rough.
When we arrived at the monastery, we agreed to pray and give thanks to God first before taking some pictures.
Outside Church
This the view from the front of the church. Compared to other famous churches that I've been before like the Baclaran or the Manaoag Church, this one is rather small, maybe triple of this is the Baclaran Church.
But when we went inside, I was so mesmerized by the beauty and simplicity of it. There were no mass or people inside so the 3 of us family prayed. And my 3 year old daughter who I know is very playful and active was so timid and silent when were inside praying. Even a 3 year old who doesn't understand a lot of things was captivated and understood what was inside that simple yet majestic church.
And after praying, I decided that I am not gonna take a picture of the statue and the relic of the True Cross as I realized it's gonna be very disrespectful.
Around the Monastery
So we just decided to have some fun for a bit, we're suppose to have a picnic here but we didn't know that the travel was that far so we arrived late like almost 6 o'clock and it's gonna be dangerous to drive down the mountain at night.
So, we just spent a few minutes taking pics of the beautiful scenery and went home. Here are some of the pics in our travel.
The place reminded me a bit of Tagaytay, the air is so cold plus a lot of great view of the other mountains surrounding the monastery.
This is the 30 foot statue that's also famous on this place and one of the reasons why it's visited by a lot, we just didn't took a picture of this because it's a bit far from the monastery and it's already dark around this time.
This is similar to Christ the Redeemer in Brazil just smaller.
Hope you liked our travel, see you next time peeps.
