"Don't Worry about the Fear, Worry about the Addiction". Natural Drugs - Skydiving. Personal experience

The equipment - checked, the plane is in the air, 3500m (12000ft) asl. The door opens and you look down. There is a vast abyss under your feet. The feeling in this moment is hard to be described, your heart beats so fast, you are sweating and trembling, you don't notice clearly what is happening around you, your pupils are enlarged, your muscles are tight, the only thing you can think is "what the hell am I doing".. and... YOU JUMP!

You are falling through the air at speed of around 200kmh(120mph). The parachute opens.. It becomes so quiet around you..You are flying.. like a bird!!! Great amount of energy releases in your body.
You arrive on the ground, screaming and trying to realize what just happened. This is the best thing you've ever done! You've never felt happier, more optimistic and energetic in your whole life! It is clear, you wanna do it again.. and again.. and again. You are sure you will!

The main causer of all these sensation is the adrenaline. During skydiving a lot of things happen in your body. Before the jump, your brain is so stressed out, that it makes your body produce extreme amount of energy for the "fight or flight" situation. But there are no bears in the air to fight with, so all this energy remains unused, so when we land on the ground, it transforms into great rush of happiness, optimism, gratitude and all the amazing feelings you can think about. Our brain quickly forgets the scary moments before the jump, but remembers the great emotions after that, so we want to jump again and again. It is easy to addict to what makes us feel amazing! Actually skydiving is the best anti stress therapy

When I jumped for the first time, while we were canopying, I asked the instructor "Can't we stay here??". And he answered "I've tried around... 11 000 times... I haven't succeed yet, but I'll continue trying!"
I've always wanted to skydive, that has been a dream for me for as long as I remember myself. Actually almost all kinds of extreme sports seem amazing . Although I am a big coward, this feeling of "trying to survive" in relatively controlled situations and how clear your mind becomes has always attracted me. Skydiving is not dangerous, there is far more chance to die while traveling to the airport, than because of the jump. Nowadays the equipment is so good, that almost always death during skydiving is caused by human mistakes. When you jump alone, you need great consciousness, you know everything depends on you. And it is hard to convince your brain that everything is ok, your body just reacts in a certain way, you can not stop the adrenaline. So you need to be greater than your mind and to overcome your natural sense of self-preservation. I have 20 jumps so far. Here is one of them in photos. It is the best experience!
