Most people tend to be more excited on Christmas Eve than they are on Christmas Day. Same thing with New Year’s Day; most people are more excited on New Year’s Eve (or the few days before New Year’s Day) than they actually are on New Year’s Day. Looking forward to something gives more pleasure than the actual event, in most cases.

Disclaimer: Like many principles, this too has limitations.

You have definitely experienced this before. Having been so excited for something to happen and you just can’t wait for it to happen. Every passing second is a nightmare of anxiety for you. You’re feeling so uneasy, so uncomfortable. Can we just get this over with already??!!! Someone do something!!!!

Maybe it’s months away, weeks, days, or even hours. You were waiting patiently until you just couldn’t take it anymore. Now you’re impatient. It feels like your mind is stuck in that particular thing. You can’t think for 2minutes without it crossing your mind.

You think you hate it but this “waiting period” gives you so much pleasure. Having something to look forward to. That’s what actually drive every human.

It’s your wedding day, your graduation, “when is he going to propose?”, “you bet he has put the ring on it , but now I’m nervous the date is so far away/ the date is so close”, “exams is in 3weeks, it’s too close/ it’s too far away”, “school reopens in 2weeks, I can’t wait to go back to school I miss my friends”… and so on.

This is where the excitement is, and little less in the event itself. The anxiety in the wait. The adrenaline pump, the goosebumps, sometimes the fever you get, the fantasies and imaginations you have when you think about it. That’s where the pleasure is.

Most people tend to be more excited on Christmas Eve than they are on Christmas Day. Same thing with New Year’s Day; most people are more excited on New Year’s Eve (or the few days before New Year’s Day) than they actually are on New Year’s Day.
It’s the wait, the optimism, hope, the I don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s the excitement about what you’re about to find out. Looking forward to something gives more pleasure than the actual event, in most cases.

I mean, what really happens on New Year’s Day? But everyone is always so excited about it like their life is magically going to change.

Another instant where we also drive pleasure from is after the event. Looking back on it, all that you did and everything that happened especially if it has to do with a loved one. You’re looking back on the memories and holding it close to your heart and deeply longing for it.

Why did this moment has to end?????
