My first experience with blockchain was 2years ago. It was during the time my friends and I had just learned about Steemit and joined it. Of course it was not easy convincing me or getting me to understand how the platform works. The only thing I understood about it was the posting, but I could not begin to fathom how the rewards system works.
It took me days, if not weeks to get my head around the whole thing. Like anybody else, my first impression was that “This is not possible. It’s probably a Ponzi scheme.“ What convinced me to actually sign up was how improved their lives were. They were not only getting more knowledgeable in this disruptive new technology field each passing day but they also got financial education (in new money called cryptocurrencies) for showing the interest and making the effort to learn.
…but this is only a portion of blockchain technology which in turn is also a portion of web3.
I got more and more interested in it each passing day. I already knew something about crypto before joining the platform at the time but I can’t really tell what exactly it was that I knew. Because I learned so much more after joining the platform it feels like I didn’t actually know anything.
I get so excited talking about blockchain and web3
Two years down the line this excitement is only growing bigger and bigger. Not once that I catch myself explaining and talking plenty in response to someone asking me a simple question about blockchain. Time and again I have had sessions where I basically give a lecture on a particular aspect of the blockchain. I actually love doing this. I have not had many things I love to do like this one. Even though my knowledge of blockchain is not that in-depth I’m still able to help people understand some simple concepts of the blockchain especially in cryptocurrencies.
I want to pursue this more seriously. Where I come from the topic of blockchain or web3 is really not popular. My school is a technological institution and blockchain or web3 is not popular (most students have no idea what it is), now imagine what about the other universities that are not tech based; colleges, health institutions, technical universities, polytechnics, senior high schools, and basic schools. Most people are still living in darkness when it comes to these technologies.
I believe blockchain, if understood well and adopted, has the potential to improve livelihoods (improve economies) and make our lives much better in so many aspects of our daily activities.
I’m going to continue in my own little ways to do as much as I can to introduce blockchain/web3 to as many people I can on my campus and outside of my campus.
I will not say I am going to single-handedly provide blockchain sensitization to my whole campus and all the other campuses and schools in my country, but a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, the saying goes, so we’ll get there. Neither will I try to do this alone.

Generally I like anything that has to do with me guiding someone to do something, even if it’s just me providing information. I could say I like teaching. I’ve not really figured out exactly what it is but I like giving advice, a lot. Once my friend told me to consider being a therapist after we had just had a personal conversation. So you get the picture.
