I could not be happier about Musk taking Twatter private. Were I him...
Well, that's the problem isn't it? You're not him. Quite amazing how any free speech advocate would endorse one person having 100% control over any sizable platform. Like I said: this won't change anything in principle, and it's now up to Musk to show if he walks the walk.
President Donald J. Trump, the sitting President of the United States of America at the time, was notoriously banned.
Blah blah. Boohoo. If you come to my house, I'm the arbiter of your speech. If you insult, disrespect or spread lies among the rest of my guests, you're out. That's not too difficult for you to grasp, is it? In the analogy, you leave my house and then go complain in the streets about how you're not allowed to disrespect my guests, and then you find a group of dimwits who protest with you in front of my house.
To be clear: loads of Antifa accounts were banned as well. Now if you would have come with another of thousands of available examples of normal powerless citizens who were banned, maybe you would have had a shot at a more balanced reaction...
Lastly, I wrote an entire post some years ago defending Alex Jones because in principle I agree that platforms like YouTube, Twatter and others abuse their power. But it's their house. Which is why public squares should never be privately owned. If Musk walks the walk and governs Twatter like a public square, it's a win, but seeing how he reacted on Twatter in the past towards people who are criticizing him or his businesses... Let's just say that I'll believe it when I see it.
