Good morning, fellow summoners. This is @zusi78. We have less than 2 days left until the end of the season, and I’d love to share this epic battle involving Bera Dallin. Without mincing words she would be the first card I am bringing in next season.
Since I started playing modern ranked battles, there are certain monsters in my opponents’ lineups that feel especially satisfying to take out. Here are a few of them: Commander Slade, Calamity, Rage, Oridum Graybrow, and Bera Dallin. There are others, but these ones I have constantly encountered are all high-impact units in Modern ranked. They tend to be durable, disruptive, or high-value, so they stick around and influence battles a lot. Fully maxed (or near-max) versions are especially annoying to face and correspondingly satisfying to eliminate.
Splinterlands is no walk in the park, but that's what amps up the excitement.A winning strategy weighs stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and beyond. That's why you must factor them all into your deck building.Toss in strong cards to boost your setups, and push hard to rack up as many victories as possible! 🔥
FEATURED CARD.
Bera Dallin is a Legendary Life (Light) Monster from the Rebellion set in Splinterlands. She is a high-mana (11) frontline tank designed for durability, damage absorption, and protecting the rest of the team while still contributing meaningful damage.
At max level she is a true fortress: 3 melee + up to 7 armor damage (via Armored Strike), 4 speed, 7 armor, and 14 health.
[First icon] – Armored Strike (Level 1)
Gains an additional melee attack equal to her remaining armor. With 7 armor at max level (or more with Protect/buffs), this can deal heavy damage. The secondary attack scales with current armor, so Repair or Protect support keeps it strong.
[Second icon]– Taunt (Level 1)
Forces all enemy monsters that can target her to attack her instead of her allies (exceptions exist for Reach, Scattershot, certain positioning rules, etc.). This protects the backline and lets her absorb focus fire.
[Third icon] – Shield (Level 2)
Reduces Melee and Ranged damage by 50% (rounded up). Damage of 1 is completely negated. Also reduces Thorns damage to 1 and cancels Redemption damage. Makes physical attackers struggle to break through her armor.
[Fourth/last icon] – Void Armor (Level 4 / Max)
Magic attacks hit her armor before her health. Combined with high base armor and Shield, this gives strong resistance to all three damage types (melee, ranged, and magic).
Why Players Like Me Find Her Annoying to Encounter.
Extreme durability: High health + high armor + Shield + Void Armor means she soaks massive amounts of damage from every attack type. She often outlasts multiple rounds of focused fire.
Taunt control: She forces enemies to waste attacks on her instead of picking off softer backline units (healers, ranged, magic dealers). This protects the opponent’s key damage dealers and support.
Damage contribution while tanking: Armored Strike lets her hit hard (sometimes delivering double kills in a single round when armor is high) even while absorbing hits.
Synergy potential: Life has excellent support options (Repair, Tank Heal, Protect, certain Archons like Avina of the Wolf or Eternal Tofu). With armor restoration or healing, she becomes extremely hard to remove and keeps dealing damage.
Ruleset strength: She thrives in Weak Magic, Lost Magic, Armored Up, Up Close and Personal, Melee Mayhem, and similar defensive or physical-heavy rulesets. Bonus armor rulesets make her even more oppressive.
Maxed versions feel oppressive: Fully leveled copies (especially with gold foil or strong support) can feel like a near-impenetrable wall that also punches back.
Players often describe her as “abnoxious,” “a true fortress,” or “the best defensive tank in Modern ranked” when properly supported.
Why Defeating Her Feels So Satisfying
She forces opponents to commit significant resources (Repair, Heal, Protect) to keep her alive. Breaking through that investment feels like dismantling their whole strategy.
Her combination of defense + offensive threat means eliminating her often ends a long, frustrating war of attrition.
In high-mana or defensive rulesets, taking her down (especially a fully maxed one) is frequently the decisive moment of the battle.
When you watch the battle replay you would appreciate why I feel so satisfied!
Just check Bera Dallin out, after the activating phase! 9 armor,13 health, and 4 melee attack, couple with those abilities.
My Verdict.
Bera Dallin is widely regarded as one of the stronger pure tanks in Modern ranked, especially when maxed and supported. She is the classic “annoying but fair” card—tough to remove, protects her team, and hits back hard—making her elimination particularly rewarding for opponents. Taking her out in this battle is a delight to behold.
