Over the weekend I thought about my commitment to Steem resp. Hive.
As I don't want to split my focus (and money) between Steem and Hive, I decided to transition completely to Hive. These are my reasons:
- Steem especially Steemit had its chance (for 4 years) and lots of money to bring value to its community. Instead of pushing this decentralized social media into the mainstream, instead of investing money into marketing (e.g. attracting influencers), they squandered money (paid by investors/buyers of Steem) and the only thing they achieved was a livestream of Ned singing with his guitar (while half of Steemit's staff lost their jobs) and endless talks about senseless "Smart Media Tokens".
- As I see it, most of the community transitioned to Hive. Where the community, there will be the money. Where the money, there will be the content producers + the developpers. The place of the content producers and the developpers will attract even more money. And no, this isn't all about the money. But money is one of the building blocks of this network (especially relevant for incentivation).
- As I expect more centralization for Steem, I don't see Steem / Steemit able to achieve a turnaround (especially by a guy (Justin Sun) whose other product Tron lacks an active community).
- Peakd: I see peakd.com as a startup with a dedicated and simpatico team delivering a great product (peakd.com). Here I see the motivation and the ability to achieve all the things I once had expected from Steemit.
I am aware that my move is not risk-free. But if I am wrong, I'll be able to return to Steem and would have to buy Steems for a higher price. This risk is OK for me.
I hope there will be no bad blood between the 2 communities and that the people from the less successful network will join the other.

Am Wochenende habe ich mir Gedanken über mein Engagement bei Steem bzw. Hive gemacht.
Da ich meinen Fokus (und mein Geld) nicht zwischen Steem und Hive aufteilen möchte, habe ich mich entschlossen, komplett auf Hive umzusteigen. Das sind meine Gründe:
- Steem, insbesondere Steemit, hatte seine Chance (4 Jahre lang) und viel Geld zur Verfügung, um Wert für seine Community zu schaffen. Anstatt dieses dezentrale soziale Medium in den Mainstream zu bringen, anstatt Geld in Marketing zu investieren (z.B. Influencer anzuziehen), verschwendeten sie Geld (bezahlt von Investoren / Käufern von Steem) und das einzige, was sie erreichten, war ein Livestream von Ned, in dem er Gitarre spielte und sang (während die Hälfte der Mitarbeiter von Steemit ihren Arbeitsplatz verlor) und endlose Gespräche über sinnlose "Smart Media Tokens".
- Aus meiner Sicht ist der größte Teil der Community zu Hive gewechselt. Wo die Community ist, ist das Geld. Wo das Geld ist, da werden die Content-Produzenten und die Entwickler sein. Dort, wo die Inhaltsproduzenten und die Entwickler sind, werden noch mehr User und damit auch Geld hinfliessen. Und nein, es geht nicht nur ums Geld, aber Geld ist ein wesentlicher Baustein dieses Netzwerks (v.a. als Anreizsystem).
- Da ich mehr Zentralisierung für Steem erwarte, sehe ich Steem / Steemit nicht in der Lage, eine Trendwende zu erreichen, v.a. nicht von Justin Sun, dessen anderes Projekt Tron keine aktive Community hat.
- Peakd: Ich sehe peakd.com als ein Startup mit einem engagierten und sympathischen Team, das ein großartiges Produkt liefert (peakd.com). Hier sehe ich die Motivation, all die Dinge zu erreichen, die ich früher von Steemit erwartet hatte.
Mir ist bewusst, dass mein Wechsel nicht risikofrei ist. Aber wenn ich mich irre, kann ich zu Steem zurückkehren und müsste dann Steems zu einem höheren Preis kaufen. Dieses Risiko ist OK für mich.
Ich hoffe, dass es keine Anfeindungen zwischen den beiden Communities gibt und dass sich die Leute aus dem weniger erfolgreichen Netzwerk dem anderen anschließen.
