The scientific name of the caterpillar is the Larva. It is the member of the order name Lepidoptera. Lepidoptera is the group of butterfly and moth. Basically Caterpillar is the second stage of Lepidoptera life cycle. The Caterpillars have soft body and it grow rapidly as compare to other insects. Caterpillar post eats leaf of plants and fruits etc and they damage the plants badly.

Caterpillars have very thin and long poisonous hair on body and when they touch the human body and they cause a lot of irritation on this part of body. Butterfly lays eggs on the suitable leaf and when these eggs hatches and caterpillar comes out of the eggs. this caterpillar is known as larva, then the larva change into pupa. Then the butterfly come out of the eggs.
