What a beautiful moth I found a few days ago on a pair of washed pants that were hanging to dry on the clothesline.
Qué bonita polilla encontré hace días sobre un pantalón lavado y puesto a secar en el tendedero.
I presume it arrived there the night before since, being nocturnal, most moths do not come out during the day.
Presumo que llegó allí la noche anterior ya que, al ser nocturnas, la mayoría de las polillas no salen de día.

The genus Spodoptera is also known as armyworms because the caterpillars of most of them move in rows like an army, damaging crops.

Spodoptera latifascia is also called the side-banded soldier worm, garden soldier worm, or velvet soldier worm.

Their caterpillars feed on tomato plants 🍅 and eggplant, among others.
Sus orugas se alimentan de plantas de tomate 🍅 y berenjena, entre otras.
It belongs to the Noctuidae family and inhabits Central America, the Antilles and southern North America.
Pertenece a la familia Noctuidae y habita Centroamérica, las Antilas y sur de Norteamérica.
The name Spodoptera cosmioides is considered a synonym of Spodoptera latifascia, although this is not yet clear. They could be members of the same species but of opposite sexes.
El nombre Spodoptera cosmioides se considera sinónimo de Spodoptera latifascia aunque no esta claro aún. Podría tratarse de miembros de la misma especie pero sexos opuestos.
