Hello beautiful community of holos-lotus@holos-lotus, a warm greeting.

Starting from scratch is not easy, there is uncertainty, sometimes hope, sometimes sadness, fear, other times there is much, much faith. I have started from scratch several times, for example the times I changed my place of work (relocation), or the times I changed my residence until I had my own house, or starting life alone with my children after 17 years of marriage after separation, many times we felt like starting from scratch. Today, in response to this initiative proposed by my friend mosa71@mosa71, entitled "Starting from scratch", I want to tell you about one of my experiences, but I will go back a few years, the first time I felt like starting from scratch, because it was the one that helped me in a way to forge my character, to be determined.

It is when we start our university life in another city or place different from our place of origin. Perhaps we do not start completely from scratch because we have defined a vision, a goal before, but there are significant changes in life, new people, new streets, learning about life, rhythm of life and the exercise of making decisions that were previously conditioned to the family, there is a growth in every way.

When I started studying at the UDO in Cumaná, the first week I was accompanied by my sister Rosa and I also had a very special guide, my childhood friend Elizandra who helped me to get a residence with a group of girls. Those first days I felt protected, but then my sister left and Elizandra moved to Puerto la Cruz where she would continue her engineering studies. In Cumana she could only do the basics, I felt sad, alone, everything was new, the streets, the buses, the people.

For some reason the university subjects seemed common to me in that first semester and I felt I could deal with them, even Math I, everyone was lost and I was fine, I was there to study and I liked to study, so I was fine. But living with 9 girls in the residence, all different, who did not harmonize well and told me one thing and another was uncomfortable. How to deal with that.

The only one who had a Bible in the residence was me, I belong to a Christian church since childhood so I took my Bible with me, I read it in the mornings in the room, which I shared with 2 other girls. By the way, one of the girls got scared when she entered the room and found me praying on my knees 😃. One can pray in any way, but when I had a special request I liked to do it on my knees and in silence. She was going to bed and got scared, it was dark, my dear friend Zeida 😃,

The girls would get mad at each other about everything, the cleaning, the entrance to the bathroom in the mornings, the use of utensils, the cooking. It was cleaned to Saturdays, I said when it was my turn I would do it on Fridays because on Saturdays I went to church and one of the girls made a negative comment, I didn't like it (later, this girl, Adelsis, became a great friend). At first I tried to travel to my house almost every weekend, they were nice girls, but I still didn't know them well, except for my friend Ismenia who I knew from high school, we became closer while I was there.

The first weekend I stayed there I felt sad, that afternoon I went for a walk downtown when I left the university. I was looking at the Manzanare River and remembering that in my parents' house on Friday afternoons we studied the Bible and thanked God for the week that had passed, but now I was alone there and I had no one to study with and I even thought that the girls would refuse to listen to anything. I was a young girl who was away from home for the first time, starting from scratch. Then, I thought that I didn't have to change the essence of who I was to please others, that I had to be myself.

I went back to the residence and instead of studying alone in the room I brought all my things to the table in the living room, the Bible and the booklet, the girls came to ask what I was doing and I told them. We started talking about spiritual things, my faith and the need we have to nurture the spiritual nature. I felt happy, instead of rejection there was a great acceptance, we talked until late.

The talks became frequent, we even sang, hymns from my church and their churches, all on the basis of respect for the religion of others, we read stories of faith and anything that would help us in our spiritual life. We prayed, at first the girls who were not used to praying asked me to do it, but later they did it too. I explained to them that to pray is to talk to God as a friend. Many anecdotes arose from this, some funny and others very beautiful. An answered prayer was a reason for joy.
The girls sometimes accompanied me to church, later, one of them, Claret, married a young man with a degree in Theology, they have 2 beautiful children.

When we changed our residence because the lady was going to sell the house we continued together. In fact we went through several residences because we wanted to stay together. We became closer as a family, I remember when there was a problem or strange noise the girls would all run to my bed, sometimes we slept piled up in the room, we glued the beds together. We shared many happy memories ❤️, many joys and in the problems we helped each other.

Everything changed, affection grew, respect for individuality, we no longer even had cleaning schedules, we all collaborated, depending on who had more exams, more work, we all tried to help. The last residence was an apartment and I was in charge of collecting and making the payments, rent, condominium, electricity and water. We had a jar where we put the expenses and sometimes we would go into debt taking what we had gathered there to go out for pizza, ice cream, falafel or something else 😃. Then we would replenish it, but always together...I love those girls, they are my sisters in life ❤️. We are all professionals, we lived together and also some of us saw subjects together, we always looked for each other in the UDO to go to the dining room.

I started in Cumana from zero, but I created a strong bond of love and family with my fellow residents, we joined in experiences, relationships, study, I never felt alone, neither did they. Our spiritual understanding helped us in our personal growth, coexistence, respect, and even though we are far from each other today, the affection remains.

Yadira has retired from Education and is with her daughter and son-in-law abroad. When her daughter was born, we were the first ones to hold her, we were with Yadira, taking care of her all night at the clinic until her mother and husband arrived.

All the girls have finished their education, they are spiritually beautiful women, I am not talking about religion, I am talking about faith and trust in the Creator. I think that afternoon of reflection in front of the Manzanare river in Cumaná was important for me and my friends because it was the beginning of a beautiful spiritual experience. We don't have to change our essence, our values, remaining faithful to our principles brings us great satisfaction. 😍.
