I want to share this story with you.
In my city, skateboarding was not considered a sport, so there were no skateparks or any support from the government. That motivated me to want to build spots because this is the story of the day we premiered a funbox....
It took approximately 2 months to build the fubox, I had already done others but small ones, so I decided it was time to do something bigger, a funbox that would serve to train and go to other places and have an idea how to do the tricks.
But nobody knew about this project, I wanted it to be a surprise for everyone, so I kept its construction a secret, I thought that if I was going to build something big it must be worth the time, money and effort so I made it as strong as possible. so they can use skateboard, roller and bmx.
here the construction team having some well deserved beers
Once it was finished, then I organized the event, requested the permits to do it in one of the most important avenues of the city, it had to be done well, we arrived at 7 am to start the installation of the ramps.
people started arriving at 9 am to practice and everyone was surprised because remember that the creation of the funbox was a secret!
there were more than 180 competing in the 3 categories; beginners, intermediate and advanced. They came from many towns and cities to participate.
the atmosphere was great, everyone trying to do their best tricks, and we gave them 3 hours to practice from 9 to 12, to then start the contest, and since there are so many participants I will tell you that we finished until 9 pm, it was 12 hours of intense skateboard.
I share some photos and a video, in it you will see that it starts at day and ends at night, hopefully you can feel the energy of this day. Thank you very much for taking the time to read, greetings skatehive people
cheer up if you feel that where you live they don't support you or there are very few of you, at one point there were only 3 of us in my city, but little by little I made the group grow, encouraging those who came, building a rail, a launcher and little little by little we grew, when I realized we had already created a community, so I hope it motivates you to keep trying.
